The Seven Last Words of Christ: With Me In Paradise

People have different reactions to encountering the King of Kings.  Furthermore, this situation showed itself to be particularly unique.  There, two criminals hung surrounding the Savior.  The consequences of the first criminal’s crimes had caught up to him and drove him to insanity. He mocked Jesus, an innocent man dying the death of a guilty man.  The second, though, responded differently.  He chastised the first criminal and sought to gain the attention of Jesus.  For everything he was going through, the second criminal saw the face of an innocent man, but even more so, he saw the face of the Savior of mankind.

Father Forgive Them

The Seven Last Words of Christ: Father Forgive Them

He was crucified that day, a particularly brutal and bloody process.  All of this having been whipped, beaten, and bloodied long before His crucifixion.  No one could bring any true charge against Him and instead levied lies and falsehoods as the means of His judgment.  When it came time to crucify Him, he was placed in between two criminals, the people seeing Christ as nothing more than a mere criminal.  There, the mocking and pain continued.  Yet, it was the response of Jesus that stunned the crowd and epitomized the mission that Jesus came to complete.

Nobody Special 026: I Guess We Are Talking About Logan Paul

Nobody Special 026: I Guess We Are Talking About Logan Paul

This week the boys of Nobody Special talk about what is going on in their lives and then realize that nothing is really going on.  At least nothing that would necessitate a daily vlog.  Truly, we live boring lives.  Although, occasionally, we have to deal with the issue of comments made about Danny’s weight.  So we take this opportunity to learn how to support one another during difficult times.  Exercising is terrible.  Just saying.

Also, we look at the current and ongoing scandal of Logan Paul. We look at why people subscribe to him and what the appeal is.  Also, we look at what the Christian response to these types of scenarios should be.  Grace and truth should be extended to everyone no matter what they do.  Even if what they do is horrifying.

The Crown of Self Righteousness

Crowns of Men: The Crown of Self-Righteousness

It has always been a rather large temptation for me to define my worth by my achievements. For whatever reason, there has been this need to prove myself as “good enough” or fully capable to handle myself in any circumstance. While I may have tried to define my self worth as a person by my achievements, every time I earned one, the pleasure may have lasted for a while, but ultimately the crown of achievement was not able to sustain a deep internal need. For many of us, we do everything in our power to wear the crown of achievements on our head because it makes us feel special, important, and loved, but ultimately, that deeper sense of meaning and purpose cannot come from our actions.

Compassion

The Regret of God

We know that God is an all knowing and infallible God. Yet, multiple times in the bible, it says that God had “regret” for making man. Most notably you see this in Genesis 6:6 with the events leading up to the Great Flood.

Nobody Special: The Podcast

Nobody Special 002: Cold Oatmeal and the Pope

Caleb and Danny are back for the second episode! Who knew they would make it this far. In this episode, we talk about the football game we didn’t watch, the movies that aren’t out yet, and the oatmeal we didn’t eat. Also, Danny disagrees with the Pope. So hopefully that goes okay. The Gospel Outpost…

Enough: I Have Had Enough

So, here I sit.  It is 2:30am and my mind is racing.  Not in a bad way either.  Today has been marked, all day, by merely conversations about God.  Conversations of where faith and life violently collide.  And in the midst of that, one of the most honest conversations took place where two people could…

Enough: Are You Enough?

We have come to God knowing that we are not enough but that God loves us despite whatever we do.  Yet, for whatever reason, we can know that God’s love for us goes beyond our ability to earn it and still hesitate to give Him our lives.  There is a deep seeded fear that God is not…

Enough: Am I Good Enough?

The first time I had applied to enter into the Pastor training program, I was flat out rejected.  This was odd because, for me, I had believed I heard the call of God.  Others had affirmed it in me.  I was encouraged that I would get in no problem.  So, confidently walking in, I was…
