While it’s never a fun process, the boys of Nobody Special talk about the times when they have been humble and been humbled.  In the end, everyone will one day bow before God, the difference will only be on what side of eternity we stand.  This week we look at some of the moments where Caleb and Danny endured tough times and came out stronger in the process.  We  talk about where to find your identity and what it means to stand with one another, all while growing closer to God in the process. Caleb and Daniel take on the not so difficult topic of racism and whether or not it is biblical. Â Spoiler, it’s not. Racism is bad, folks. With everything going on with race in this country, we wanted to ask where is God in this situation and how can we, as the church deal with this pressing issue. Â Also we take a loot at the KKK and Antifa and whether killing and murder is ever good. Â Spoilers again… no. Â
Also, Caleb is Daniel Fasting which mean Daniel is Caleb fasting and seriously could use some meat. Â But we support each other. Right? Â
Much to Daniel’s dismay, Caleb decided we should talk about the tweets from President Trump on Transgenders in the Military. We discuss the string of tweets that are not public policy but earned public outcry. And we try and get horrible off topic doing it. Maybe with Hamilton. Maybe with Breath of the Wild. But we seek to find God in the midst of current events even when its difficult. Don’t tweet public policy folks.
This week Caleb tries to convince Danny that Indiana Jones 2 and 4 are good movies. Danny talks about Eugene Peterson to get people to check out the podcast. We look at everything going on with Hobby Lobby and their mishapventures in accidentally smuggling artifacts. Pobody’s Nerfect! Also Eugene Peterson blew up our Facebook and twitter feed this week so we look at the nature of sin and homosexuality.
Fidgets Spinners are a thing apparently. Â Normally we would brush by this as a fad in the same line as Beanie Babies, Pogs, and Bakugan, but nooooooooo. Â So far people have been talking about whether these are metaphors of the Trinity or tools of the Devil. Â Yep, what a weird debate. Â Also, we stray off discussing Trinitarian Theology because why not. Â In one episode we discuss the worlds dumbest new toy and theology’s most complex theology. Caleb and Danny talk about the movie Wonder Woman and then launch into a lively debate on the age old question “Is man inherently evil?” And we managed to do this all without resorting to personal attacks or name calling. Marvel mania has started this week! With so much going on in the world of neediness, the boys see who can out nerd the other. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 premiers this weekend and Danny really wants Chris Pratt to hang out with him. Chris if you are reading this… please?
Also, we discuss the highly discussed Netflix Original series 13 Reasons Why and how to handle the topic of self harm, depression, and suicide. Not the cheeriest subject, but a real one none the less.
